Road closure announced as Parkway Project progresses

Sections of Lindale Drive will be closed beginning Tuesday as work progresses on the veterans memorial parkway in Anniston.  Alabama Department of Transportation officials announced the closures Friday, saying they are needed for contractors to perform drainage work, build a detention area and build the roadbed fill.  The road will be closed at the junction of U.S. 431 for approximately 500 feet north.  According to an ALDOT release, it will be a prolonged road closure, expected to be completed by late this summer.  The detour for Lindale Drive will be Whiteside Avenue, just south off of U.S. 431, to Patricia Road and back to Lindale Avenue. The release also states that ALDOT officials will close Sprague Avenue at a later date and traffic will shift to different lanes. The agency will issue notice of the closure when ALDOT staff sets a date for the work.
