The Gadsden city council has scheduled a public
hearing next week on proposed ordinances
that would govern food trucks and where they could operate in the city.
City Planner Nick Hall says the proposed ordinances would limit how close a food truck could
operate to a “bricks and mortar” restaurant and would prevent them from staying
in a location overnight. He said they could not stay in one location for an
extended period of time.
Hall said food trucks would not be allowed within 300 feet
of a restaurant, and if on private property they must have a letter from the
property owner allowing them to set up.
The public hearing will be at noon Tuesday during the
council meeting.
Hall said the only ordinance currently in place for food
trucks falls under sidewalk vendors.
