A woman is recovering in the hospital after she was brutally beaten on a popular bike trail just past the Alabama state line.
42-year-old Tina Waddell was walking on Georgia’s Silver Comet Trail, which connects to Alabama’s Chief Ladiga Trail, when she was attacked.
Joggers and bikers starting out near Jacksonville are concerned.
Mathis said perhaps adding emergency call boxes along the trail could increase security.
Other walkers and joggers on the trail say they do their best to stay safe.
Family and friends of Waddell say they do not want this tragedy to keep people from enjoying the trail.
Police are still searching for Waddell’s attacker. In the meantime, Waddell will undergo reconstructive surgery.
