Annistons Regional Medical Center has reportedly extended
its contract with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama, avoiding the loss of
the insurer's customers in September.
However, the hospital and the insurer have so far not
discussed the deal publicly.
The Anniston-based hospital announced its deal. Still,
neither side commented Monday on the details of the contract or how it would
impact the companies or patients. The announcement comes less than a month
after RMC canceled its contract with Blue Cross, effective Sept. 12, as it
fought with the insurer to acquire higher payments for services.
An advertisement placed sunday states RMC and Blue Cross
have agreed to extend their existing contract.
