Anniston police arrest suspect in weekend armed robbery

Anniston police have arrested a 53 year old Anniston man on two felony counts of first degree robbery and resisting arrest and is possibly facing additional felon charges.  Kelly Tatum is charged in the Sunday robbery at a residence on Cobb Avenue.  The victims said that Tatum entered the front door of the residence and robbed them at gunpoint using a shotgun then fled the scene.  Investigators had been searching for Tatum and Wednesday Patrol officers were dispatched to the area of 15th Street and Dooley Avenue where a residence was shot into and an exchange of gunfire occurred between two vehicles.  Officers were able to determine that Tatum was one of the suspects in the exchange of gunfire and possibly shooting into the residence.  An alert Warrants Investigator drove by a residence that Tatum had originally occupied in the on Paul Street and located Tatum standing outside a red Ford Explorer that had the rear window broken out.  Tatum was armed with a shotgun, but dropped the weapon when he was challenged by the Investigator.  Tatum was arrested and remains in jail.
