Gadsden native wins 1st runner up in Miss USA Pageant

A 25-year-old contestant from Connecticut won the title of Miss USA in Las Vegas on Sunday night, with Miss Alabama, Mary Margaret Mccord, a native of Gadsden coming in as first runner-up.  Erin Brady of South Glastonbury, Conn., won the beauty pageant at the Planet Hollywood hotel-casino.  As the first runner-up, McCord will be asked to fill the role of Miss USA if Brady is unable to fulfill her duties.
