Suspect in Oxford and Jacksonville thefts arrested in Vestivia Hills

A Hamilton man is behind bars at Donaldson Correctional Facility as several law enforcement agencies are sorting out a string of crimes stretching from Montgomery to Birmingham to Oxford and Huntsville.  35 year old Fredrick Wayne Reed, surrendered to his probation officer after he was linked to an auto burglary in Vestavia Hills.  Reed was also wanted for similar crimes in Montgomery, Oxford, Jacksonville, Huntsville and Trussville.  Oxford police say Reed was a suspect in a May 10 theft at Wal-Mart in Oxford where they believe he  took the wallet of a 72-year-old woman whose purse was open in her shopping cart. The theft netted $40 in cash and a debit card. With that incident, police were able to identify the suspect's car. In Jacksonville, Reed is also suspected of a similar theft at the Jacksonville Walmart store.
