Calhoun county commissioners Thursday approved the hiring of a new assistant county administrator.  The commission approved a contract Thursday for Melissa Wood to fill the position held Faye Robertson, Robertson will step down in September.   Wood’s contract begins on July 1. County Administrator Ken Joiner said the two-month overlap will help Wood adjust to the new job.   Wood had previously worked in Cleburne County as a financial officer for 10 years. She said Thursday the Calhoun County job offered her an opportunity to work in a bigger area with more staff. Faye Robertson was praised by commissioners Thursday for her 28 years of service to calhoun county.
