Etowah Coroner to seek house seat

Etowah County Coroner Michael Gladden has announced that he will be a candidate to represent District 29 on the Alabama House of Representatives. Gladden says he will run as a Democrat and will be running against Republican incumbent Becky Nordgren.  Gladden has served as the Etowah County Coroner since 2006 and served a short stint as Sheriff when James Hayes passed away while in office in 2007.  In 2010, Gladden was the only Democrat to win a countywide race in Etowah County…winning re-election as coroner with 56 percent of the vote.  District 29 currently covers a majority of Etowah County and part of Dekalb County, with recent redistricting adding part of Calhoun County into the District for the next election.
