Anniston man charged with murder and kidnapping following weekend shooting

Thomas Hall Marshall

Anniston Police are investigating an early morning shootout and attempted kidnapping Saturday that left one man dead, another woman injured, and one man behind bars.
Just before 5 a.m., police responded to a call along Ragan Drive after being notified about multiple shots fired in the area. Officers on scene found the body of a man with gunshot wounds and a woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
According to investigators, 50 year old Thomas Hall Marshall, of Anniston went to the residence where the shooting took place to get his estranged wife, 48-year-old Kimberly Marshall of Anniston, who was staying at the residence out of fear for her safety.
Investigators say Thomas tried to force his way into the house and exchanged words with one of the men who lived inside that home, 46 year old  Jeffrey Michael Foote of Anniston.
Police say Thomas  and Foote exchanged gunfire. Foote was struck several times and died on the scene. Foote's mother, 63-year-old Karen Howell Cooper, was also caught in the gunfire.
An emergency crew transported Cooper to Regional Medical Center where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries. Thomas Marshall entered the house and reportedly took Kimberly Marshall at gunpoint and drove away from the scene.
Shortly after, officers with the Oxford Police department stopped Thomas Marshall in the Bynum community for speeding.  He was detained until Anniston police arrived to arrest him. Authorities say Kimberly  was found unharmed inside the car driven by Thomas.
Thomas is in the Anniston City Jail charged with capital murder, and attempted murder and kidnapping in connection to the deadly incident.
