Stabbing death in Springville

A Springville man died early Tuesday morning from an apparent stab wound.

St. Clair County Coroner Dennis Russell identified the victim as 

Lavranzo Collins.

Russell said Collins was transported to UAB Hospital in Birmingham where he died in the hospital’s emergency room around 3 a.m., from a single-stab wound.

He said Central Dispatch received an emergency call around 1:45 a.m. concerning the stabbing incident at a Springville residence.

Russell said Collins’ body was sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science in Huntsville for an autopsy.

The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.
