East Gadsdens Garden Terrace Apartments will be renovated
and remodeled, but the original plans have changed, according to an architect
working with the property’s owners.
Pat Sherman said the three Canadian owners of the 96-unit
site on Hillside Circle were unable to get Affordable Housing tax credits for
the project, necessitating the changes.
Sherman said the owners will renovate the units four to
eight at the time, finish work on them and get them occupied, then begin work
on the others until they are all completed.
Since the tax credits were not available, Sherman said, the
owners will be funding the project.
Sherman said the owners are getting a price on roofing the
initial units to be renovated and the entire complex to stabilize it. She said
work will begin soon and the first units could be finished in four to six
months.
