Two Etowah County residents died in unrelated incidents
Sunday, according to Etowah County Coroner Michael Head.
A 3-year-old Gadsden girl was fatally injured when a
television fell on her at a residence on Fairview Road. A call was made to 911
at 2:22 p.m., he said, and the girl died at a local hospital at 3:35 p.m.
Head said the television was an old model TV that weighed
about 250 pounds.
While Head was at the hospital on that call, he said, he
received a call to a residence on Winningham Drive on Lookout Mountain.
70 year old Charles Winningham, was pronounced dead on the
scene at 4:15 p.m., after he was pinned between the wall of his garage and a
vehicle.
Head said the man was cleaning out the vehicle and it had
been left in gear. When it started moving, Head said, the man apparently tried
to get in the vehicle to stop it and was pinned between the wall and the
vehicle.
The vehicle was running and in gear still when the accident
was discovered.
