Talladega chase suspect claims he was beaten by police

Deon Carter
Childersburg Police chased Deon Carter over the weekend and Carter's family is accusing officers of beating him.
Childersburg police officers stopped a car driven by Carter Sunday night. Carter recalls one officer telling him a ride to the sheriff's office was necessary.
Carter said he was about to let his window down. When the officer bust the windows out of his car. He said he just pulled off not knowing if it was a gunshot or what.
Childersburg Police Chief Douglas Wesson confirms no shots were fired.
The chief said Carter cranked the car back up, started to run and one of the officers took his baton to try to knock the glass out so he could get inside the car.
Chief Wesson says a chase started, stretched 10 miles, reached 80 miles an hour and ended in Shelby County.
Carter revealed, somewhere along the way, he hopped out of the car and into some woods.
Carter said When he went into the woods, the police came into the woods and that's when the officer beat him.
Paramedics took Carter to Coosa Valley Medical Center.
When Carter's family arrived at the hospital, a hospital spokeswoman the hospital went into lockdown mode.
Chief Wesson says the officer who hit the window of the car driven by Carter was back at work Monday. The chief is investigating what happened.
