Two Talladega County residents have been charged with the
murder of a Coosa County man, and a third has been charged with felony theft in
connection with the same incident, according to the Coosa County Sheriff’s
Office.
21 year old Charles Claude Oden, of Childersburg, and his girlfriend, 19 year
old Kaylyn Shana Sims, of Stewartville,
have each been charged with one count of murder. Oden’s bond was set at
$300,000, and Sims’s was set at $250,000.
The two are charged with the March 2 killing of 43 year old
Gregory Wayne Parker, of Weogufka, at Parker’s home on Lodis Lane. Parker had
apparently been shot to death.
Aauthorities say An intense investigation uncovered several
leads, and the primary suspects were identified, Two individuals were arrested
for murder within hours of the crime being committed.
Talladega County Task Force Cmdr. Jason Murray said Oden was
out on bond for unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance when he was
arrested for murder.
Parker’s is the first homicide in Coosa County since
February 2010.
Coosa county authorities say 25-year-old Casandra Lynn
Johnson Tampling, of Childersnburg, was arrested for theft of property in the
second degree.
How the charges against her relate back to the murder
charges was not made entirely clear, although authorities say the investigation
remains ongoing.
