Koch Foods in Gadsden has announced an additional expansion
which will create an additional 70 jobs at the Gadsden facility. The firm, had announced plans in October
announced to add 80 jobs.
The Gadsden City council approved non-education tax
abatements for Koch during their Tuesday meeting. The company will invest $7.5 million in its
chicken processing plant in East Gadsden.
According to the resolution approved by the council, the
jobs will add $1.89 million to Koch's payroll.
The company currently employs 585, which includes the jobs
announced in October.
Koch
said it would invest
$6 million in the plant and hoped its expansion would be completed by January.
It purchased the plant from Tyson in 2007.
