The Gadsden City council approved non-education tax
abatements for Koch during their Tuesday meeting. The company will invest $7.5 million in its
chicken processing plant in East Gadsden.
According to the resolution approved by the council, the
jobs will add $1.89 million to Koch's payroll.
The company currently employs 585, which includes the jobs
announced in October.
Koch
said it would invest
$6 million in the plant and hoped its expansion would be completed by January.
It purchased the plant from Tyson in 2007.
