Childersburg Drug Bust

One suspect was arrested and a Childersburg police officer was treated after inhaling fumes when officers raided a meth lab in Childersburg.  A citizen alerted police to an active meth lab at a residence in Childersburgs Johnson Acres. Police responded and called in the Talladega County Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, and two active “shake-and-bake” labs were found.  49 Joseph Nelson Lett Jr., was arrested, and Wesson said another suspect got away on foot and is being sought.  During the raid, officer Tony Tomlin inhaled fumes from the meth lab. He was transported to Coosa Valley Medical Center, where he was admitted, treated and released.  Lett was charged with manufacture of a controlled substance in the first degree, felony possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of a controlled substance, specifically Klonopin.
