Georgia Man found dead in wrecked car in Calhoun County

Authorities say a 59 year old Georgia man was found dead early Thursday morning by Piedmont police after his car veered off U.S. 278 just inside Calhoun county at the Calhoun Etowah county line.  Calhoun county Coroner Pat Brown says Investigators believe Robert David Lewis, of Kennesaw, Ga., died from cardiac-related issues before his vehicle struck several trees off the highway. According to the coroner, Lewis suffered no trauma from the wreck and his car had minimal damage.  Phillip Winkles, who investigated the incident for the Coroner’s Office, said he believes the death was cardiac-related because Smith, who was in Etowah County on a business trip, had complained of left-arm pain on Wednesday.  Brown said Lewis left sometime late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning to go home. A motorist traveling on U.S. 278 saw Lewis’ car off the road and got the attention of a Piedmont police officer around 4 a.m.
