Talladega teachers trial delayed

The trial of A former teacher at the Talladega Career Technical school has been continued while the discovery process is completed. According to Assistant District Attorney Nathan Mayes, Richard Allen Bice’s case will either appear on the district court trial docket for October or will be specially set sometime before that.  Bice was arrested in May and charged with being a teacher having sexual contact with a student under the age of 19.  The Talladega City Board of Education kept him on paid administrative leave until Tuesday, when he was fired during a special called meeting.  The crime Bice is charged with is a Class A misdemeanor, punishable upon conviction by up to 12 months in the county jail.
