An Albertville man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in
the death of his girlfriend's 11-month-old baby.
19-year-old Immanuel Gage Allen entered the plea Monday,
the day his trial was to begin. He faced charges of capital murder and
aggravated child abuse.
Police say Allen shook the baby violently while caring for
her in January 2012. Police say Gemma Lashae Moore died of blunt force trauma
and had injuries consistent with shaken baby syndrome.
Marshall says Allen admitted shaking the baby, but he said
she died after falling off the bed.
A plea of manslaughter means Allen admits killing the
child but that it was accidental.
