Police investigating attack on Gadsden Woman

Gadsden police are investigating the reported attack of A Gadsden woman Thursday night by an assailant she believes followed her home from a store.
The woman said she noticed a man following her as she was walking home from the store, but she continued walking down 12th Street to her residence on Sixth Avenue. She told police she went into the residence and a little while later, she came out to walk her dog. Before she knew what was happening, the man was all over her. She managed to fight her way back to her house, screaming for her roommate to come help her.
She told police she made it to her porch and was able to get the door between her and the attacker. When she slammed the door shut, it knocked the man off the steps and he fell backward,  then he ran toward 12th Street and she lost sight of him. The woman told police if she had not fought off her attacker, she believes he would have raped her.
The man was described as Hispanic, about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds. He was wearing a blue shirt and blue jeans, and had buzz-cut hair and a small mustache.
