Crossville student taken to hospital after smoking Spice at school



Dekalb county officials report that A 16-year-old Crossville High School student was taken to a hospital for treatment
after smoking Spice that was brought to school by another student.
According to sheriff Jimmy Harris  A 15-year-old student brought the synthetic drug to school Sept. 12, and the two students smoked it. The 16-year-old had a medical reaction to the drug and went to the School Resource Officer . An ambulance was called and the teen was transported to Marshall Medical Center South, where he was treated and released.   The Drug Task Force, was contacted  and its agents continue to assist in an ongoing investigation.
The 15-year-old was charged with unlawful distribution of a controlled substance and tampering with evidence; the 16-year-old was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and public intoxication.
Both were taken by DeKalb County deputies to the Juvenile Probation Office in Fort Payne.
