Community leaders join police in seeking information on shooter of 2 year old

Community leaders in Anniston have joined  Police in appealing  for help in tracking down a person responsible for the shooting of a two year old child on Sept. 9th.
Anniston Police Captain Allen George, commander of the police investigations division, says that Tuesday, September 9 around 8:15 p.m., someone fired four to five shots into a crowd at Norwood Homes housing community, striking the toddler in the foot.
The child's foot had several broken bones and the child had to undergo surgery.
George said they have got a name through anonymous sources.
David Baker of the NAACP chapter in Anniston Ed Moore III of Justice and Civil Rights Initiative, and city councilor David Reddick, whose district includes Norwood Homes joined police at a press confrence at norwood homes wednesday afternoon.  Both Police and civil rights leaders expressed concern that people might not want to come forward, partly due to fear of relatialation and partly because of a "no snitching" belief. They stressed that not coming forward could make their neighborhoods less safe and bring the harm the potential witness might think they're avoiding.
Anyone with information can contact the Anniston Police investigative division at 256-240-4000 or Calhoun County Crimestoppers at 256-238-1414.
