Two women arrested in Etowah County on Chemical Endangerment Charges

Deputies with the Etowah County Sheriff's office have arrested two women for chemical endangerment of a child.
Investigators say 29-year-old Kristi Dyan Johnson of Rainbow City is charged with one count of chemical endangerment of exposing a child to an environment in which controlled substance are ingested, produced or distributed. Investigators say Johnson admitted she took Roxicodone and Norco, which is a form of hydrocodone, and benzodiazepine during her pregnancy.
Investigators also charged 36-year-old Casey Browning Shehi of Gadsden with one count of chemical endangerment of exposing a child to an environment in which controlled substances are ingested, produced or distributed. Investigators say she tested positive for benzadiaxapin.  She admitted to taking Xanax during her pregnancy.
Bond has been set for $10,000 for both. They will be supervised by Etowah County Community Corrections and must provide a negative drug test before being released on bond.
 

Both cases are also being worked by the Alabama Department of Human Resources in Etowah County.
