Oxford students escape injury in Wednesday afternoon bus fire

Oxford Police says several students are safe after a bus caught fire near Marsh Lane Wednesday afternoon.

Police say the bus driver was able to evacuate the  20-30 Oxford High School students on the bus. The driver was making after-school drop offs at the time of the fire.

Witnesses said the bus was smoking as soon as they pulled in the neighborhood.The bus driver thought the bus was overheating.

"When he did realize the bus wasn't overheating, it was actually more serious he told students  to get off the bus, while he called the school.

Not even two minutes later the bus caught fire .
