Etowah Task Force makes dent in Heroin Trafficking with seven arrests

The Etowah County Narcotics Task Force made seven arrests early Tuesday morning. All of those arrested were taken into custody for distributing or trafficking in heroin.  Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin announced the seven arrests Wednesday in connection with an ongoing crackdown on heroin-related crimes throughout Etowah County. In the past few months, there have been a sharp increase in overdoses and overdose deaths. Earlier this year there were 15 overdoses in a single month. 
Names of those arrested on drug distribution and other drug-related charges:  Benjamin Montitus Porter (No Bond), Derrick Jamar Britton ($75,000), Jackie Wilson ($25,000), Nicholas Adam Meeks ($9,500), Michael Anthony Taylor ($25,000), Matthew Marc Gibson and Dale Robinson ($25,000.)  
Task Force Commander Rob Savage says there are at least another four suspects they are looking for, and he’s urging them to turn themselves in to authorities.
