Hokes Bluff man seriously injured in Friday hunting accident



The Cherokee County Major Crimes Unit is investigating an incident that left a Hokes Bluff man seriously injured while hunting Friday morning.
 Central dispatch notified law enforcement personnel and emergency medical personnel that a hunter had been shot and seriously injured about 10 a.m. Friday, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.
 Responders had to travel a long way through the woods to reach the injured hunter, 43 year old Terry Dewayne Fortenberry,  of a Hokes Bluff address. He was airlifted to a Birmingham hospital for treatment.

Fortenberry was hunting with his father and a friend when the accident occurred, according to the news release.
