Glencoe police investigating home invasion/robbery

Police say that Two men forced their way into the home of an elderly Glencoe couple Wednesday night, demanding money.
The suspects got away with the woman’s purse, and fortunately, no one was injured.
Police say the two suspects described as black males in their late teens or early 20s knocked on the door of the Lay Avenue residence between 8:30 p.m. and 8:45 p.m. Wednesday evening.
They told the residents their car had broken down and asked to use a phone.
When the man unlocked the door to hand the phone through it to the young men, they forced their way inside and pushed the man down.
One suspect brandished a revolver and kept the man and woman at gunpoint while the other rummaged through their house.
When he found the woman’s purse, they took it and fled on foot.
Police believe the two went through some backyards.
Police continue to develop leads and are keeping up with reports of recent robberies in Gadsden for possible connections.
The couple told police the robbers wore dark clothing, but they didn’t wear masks or cover their faces.
