Oxford police have arrested a 21 year old man in connection
with a double-homicide investigation. Jamie Edgar Gomez is a person of interest
according to police for tampering with evidence and possession of marijuana. Authorities say 24-year-old Cordeira Romye
Maxwell of Ohatchee and 23-year-old Misty Renea Lopez of Oxford were found in a
room at the Super 8 on Highway 21 late Friday night. Currently Gomez is being
held at the Oxford Detention Facility. The investigation is still on going and
authorities are asking anyone who may have seen or talked to Maxwell and/or
Lopez prior to their deaths to call the Oxford Police Department tip line at
256-835-6122.
