Group challanges Rainbow City Nativity Display

The organization that challenged the town of Piedmont's “Keep Christ in Christmas”-themed Christmas parade has now challanged  the Nativity scene on the lawn at Rainbow City's municipal building.
The Freedom from Religion Foundation has sent a letter by email to the mayor of Rainbow City objecting to the city erecting and maintaining a Nativity scene on public property.
The letter says a “concerned local resident” contacted it about the display.
The letter asks Rainbow City to do as other towns have done and remove the display from government land and either auction or donate it.
The organization requests a response in writing about the steps being taken to remedy this violation of the First Amendment, so it can notify the complainant.
Attorneys for the organization say they don’t want to do away with Nativity scenes, it just wants them to be placed on private, not public, property.
