Two killed in car train collision in Oxford



A mother and her son were killed Saturday morning  when their
car was hit by a train at a railroad crossing on Coleman Road near U.S. 78 in Oxford.

35 year old Temeshica Chatman and her 7 year old son Nytavioun Powell of Oxford were killed after a train hit the 2006 Pontiac Grand Am they were riding in around 6:30 A.M.

Chatman was prounced dead at the scene.  Powell was transported to Regional Medical Center in Annison where he later died.

The driver of the car Taneshya Chatman, daughter of the woman killed was airlifted to UAB Hospital with life threatening injuries.  The accident remains under investigation.
