Etowah receives domestic violence grant

Gov. Robert Bentley has awarded a $106,875 grant to assist with the investigation and prosecution of domestic violence cases in Etowah County.  The Etowah County Commission will use the grant to support the operations of the sheriffs departments Domestic Violence Unit. The unit investigates domestic violence cases, aids in the prosecution of abusers and enforces protection orders.  The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs is managing the grant from funds made available by the U.S. Department of Justice. It will be supplemented by local matching funds of $35,625.
