Cherokee county drug arrest

Cherokee County investigators arrested an Etowah County man Thursday on charges of amphetamine trafficking.  47 year old George Franklin O'Leary, was already wanted on charges in Etowah County when he was arrested Thursday, according to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver.  Cherokee County authorities had already been alerted that O'Leary might be in the area. An investigator saw O'Leary in a Centre restaurant and attempted to stop him, when he fled. He was eventually detained at Bay Springs Road.  When investigators searched his camper, they found a "large amount of illegal drugs," paraphernalia and cash.  O’Leary was transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center and charged with trafficking amphetamines, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, first degree unlawful possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and attempting to elude. He could face additional charges in Etowah County
