Southside woman back in jail after january sentence to community corrections

A 30 year old Southside woman who received a 97-month sentence in Community Corrections has run afoul of the law again.  According to Etowah County District Attorney Jimmie Harp   Amy Renee Martin, was arrested on Friday for driving with a suspended license and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. She was pulled over by Southside Police for driving with a suspended license and controlled substances were found during the traffic stop.  In January Martin was sentenced to 97 months in prison, which were to be served in Community Corrections. She pleaded guilty to six counts of first-degree theft of property, six counts of third-degree burglary and one count of unlawful possession of a controlled substance.  Martin is being held without bond in the Etowah County Detention Center. Motions have been filed to revoke her diverted Community Corrections sentence and a hearing on those motions has been scheduled for Aug. 20. She will remain in jail until the hearing.
