Officials say A preliminary investigation is underway into the campaign finances of Republican State Senate candidate Tim Sprayberry of Heflin. District Attorney E. Paul Jones says it appears that Sprayberry has some campaign contributions that were not reported. Jones also says it appears campaign funds were spent on personal expenses. Several complaints to the district attorney's office prompted the investigation, which is ongoing. Baron Coleman spoke on Sprayberry's behalf. He says the prosecutor never contacted Sprayberry with any questions. Sprayberry is challenging incumbent Republican State Senator Gerald Dial for the District 13 seat in the June 3rd primary.
