Attalla couple arrested in assault on woman behind gas station

Rebecca Ann Kirkpatrick         Samuel Andrew Kirkpatrick

An Attalla couple have been arrested on felony charges after allegedly beating, pistol whipping and robbing a 36-year-old woman behind an Attalla gas station.  39 year old Samuel Andrew Kirkpatrick,  and 30 year old Rebecca Ann Kirkpatrick, have both been charged with first-degree robbery and second-degree assault. The pair were arrested May 8 after admitting to attacking the woman.  Investigators said  the Kirkpatricks had a disagreement with the woman about some missing money and decided to take it back May 4. Samuel Kirkpatrick was traveling down Cleveland Avenue with the woman in his car when he pulled behind the Jet-Pep.  Rebecca Kirkpatrick was waiting at the gas station, and when the car pulled up, she began attacking the woman through the window and eventually dragged her onto the pavement and continued to beat her. During the attack, Samuel Kirkpatrick pistol whipped the woman, and the couple eventually fled with $120 and left the woman at the gas station.  Investigators contacted the couple and they admitted to beating the woman to get their money back, but denied pistol whipping her and taking any money, claiming she had nothing to steal.  The Kirkpatricks were taken to the Etowah County Detention Center, where they were released on $27,500 bond.
