Gadsden police investigating Kidnapping/Robbery/Burglary

Gadsden police report that A 67-year-old man was robbed, beaten, kidnapped and burglarized in Gadsden Saturday night.  The victim was leaving Sunset Golf about 11 p.m. Saturday night  and had just placed his “sawed-off shotgun” into the trunk of his Lincoln Town Car when two men jumped out of the woods and attacked him. They beat him repeatedly, then tied his hands together with shoe laces and put him into his trunk.  The Lincoln was driven by one of the two assailants to Truman Street near the intersection with Harrison Avenue. The 67-year-old was taken to a wooded area and beaten again, then was left behind by his attackers. Several hours later, the man finally got up and went to a nearby house on Harrison Avenue, where help was called.  While the man was getting robbed, his residence was broken into and cash was stolen from his microwave. Between the robbery and the burglary, $8,000 was taken from the victim.  Police reports said the man had multiple injuries to the head, face and upper body and was taken to Riverview Regional Medical Center. Police are still investigating the incident.
