Anniston man leads state troopers on chase

Alabama state troopers say An Anniston man was arrested on multiple charges after leading Troopers on a short chase that ended in Munford Sunday night.  The chase began Sunday at about 6:40 p.m. after an attempted traffic stop. The driver did not stop, but drove on a short distance before he crashed his car into a tree, possibly on purpose.  There were four passengers in the car at the time of the crash. One was treated and released for minor injuries, the other three were unhurt.  The driver was arrested for driving under the influence, reckless endangerment, attempting to elude and probation violation, as well as numerous traffic violations such as speeding and passing in a no passing area. It was not clear Tuesday what he was on probation for.
