A traffic stop by Anniston Police Wednesday morning resulted
in the arrest of a 26 year old passenger in the vehicle on felony charges of
obstructing justice by providing officers with a fake name. Police conducted a traffic stop on the Chevy Equinox
early Wednesday morning at the corner of Blue Mountain Road and McKleroy Avenue
to tell the driver that a headlight was out.
26-year-old Ricky Shane Canada, a passenger in the vehicle, did not have
identification, and gave officers a fake name.
Canada gave officers his real name only after they discovered three
outstanding warrants for the fake one.
Officers also found Canada had an outstanding arrest warrant under his
real name from the Anniston Police Department on a misdemeanor charge of
unauthorized use of a vehicle. The
driver of the vehicle, a 24-year-old woman, was also arrested on an outstanding
warrant for failure to appear.
