The Etowah county school system is set to begin destruction
of a number of old school buildings to make room for new, more modern and up to
date construction. Destruction of the
historic Duck Springs Elementary was the first to hit the wrecking ball this
week and destruction at Glencoe Elementary is set for next week. School officials say Construction should
begin soon on both schools, as well as a new middle school at Sardis. Students
are expected to be housed in portable buildings at Duck Springs and Glencoe
during the coming school year, with hopes of being in new structures by the
beginning of the 2014-2015 school year.
