Bodies recovered from Weiss Lake

Authorities in Cherokee county recovered the bodies of three people from a pickup truck found submerged in Weiss lake Thursday afternoon.  Authorizes say It appears the driver of the pick-up veered off the road along CR 31 … landing upside down in about eight feet of water.  Cherokee county Rescue squad Captain Danny Smith says they believe it had been in the lake for nearly two weeks. Smith says it’s been years since an incident like this has happened.   A fisherman notified authorities after spotting the vehicle in the water thursday. The three bodies, two men and a woman, were transported to the county coroner's officer for autopsies. Authorities have not released the names but said that all three had been reported missing for about 10 days.  Authorities are investigating the incident as a traffic accident .
