To no ones surprise, Alabama state Senate President Pro Tem
Del Marsh of Anniston said Tuesday that
he intends to seek re-election in 2014.
There had beenRumors around Montgomery recently that the four–term
Senate leader might be ready to call it quits on Montgomery. Marsh said Tuesday
that his plan is to run again. Marsh was
a major fundraiser for Republicans' successful
2010 effort to win control of the Alabama Legislature. He was elected
Senate president pro tem soon after that election, taking the helm of the
Senate as Republicans pushed their agenda.
During the recent legislative session, Marsh was the architect of the
state’s new controversial school choice law which will give families tax
credits to help transfer their children out of schools designated as failing.
