Anniston man arrested after firing at pizza driver

A Pizza delivery driver got a surprise Tuesday night when an Anniston man fired several shots at him after he parked in his driveway.  43 year old Ernest Todd Combs, is facing a felony charge of discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle. He was released on a $10,000 bond from the Anniston City Jail.  The delivery man, 27-year-old Keith Rice, was not injured in the incident.  Rice works for Marco’s Pizza on U.S. 431. Rice said he thought he was blocking a truck from getting into the driveway so he got into his car to leave. After Rice got into his car he said the truck blocked him.  Rice said Combs then got out of the truck and walked up to the car carrying a gun. According to his arrest report, Combs was drunk at the time of the incident.  Rice said Combs first fired four shots at his car and as he drove across Combs’ front lawn to get away, Combs fired three more times. When Rice got to a gas station on McClellan Boulevard, he called police. Officers found three bullet holes in the hood of Rice’s car at the gas station, plus a hole in the front tire and a crack in the windshield, George said. Officers also found six shell casings in Combs’ front yard.  Combs told police that Rice would not tell him why he was at his house when he was asked, so Combs fired several shots at the car to scare Rice away. Rice said he had a company sign on his car and was in full uniform at the time of the incident. He said he did nothing to prompt the shooting and that Combs asked him nothing.
