Suspect leads Gadsden police on chase thru snow

A 35 year old Gadsden man has been charged with multiple charges after he  led authorities on a chase through the snow Wednesday night after stealing a woman’s truck, before crashing it and getting arrested in Alabama City. Colin Greer Goins, has been charged with first-degree receiving stolen property, disorderly conduct, attempting to elude, having a switched/expired tag and no insurance.  Police say he is also wanted in Madison and Shelby counties for other charges, including several felonies.
Police said that during Wednesday nights heavy snow, a 30-year-old woman got out of her Chevrolet Tahoe to shop at the Grub Mart on West Meighan Boulevard. She left the car running and told police she only planned to grab a few items.
When she came back, her truck was gone, and she reported it stolen to the police. Police caught up with the truck and chased it throughout downtown Gadsden before the officer eventually lost sight of Goins.
After fleeing from one officer, Goins allegedly got behind another officer’s vehicle and started chasing him. The officer was transporting a prisoner at that time, so he radioed to Etowah County Sheriff’s deputies and other police officers, who began pursuing Goins again.
Goins eventually crashed the Tahoe into a ditch on Perkins Street and after trying to escape on foot, he was arrested by police. A wrecker pulled the truck out of the ditch and it was returned to its owner.

Goins is being held without bond in the Etowah County Detention Center.
