A 27 year old Centre man is the Cherokee County Detention
center pending a bond hearing after he led deputies on a chase from Alabama
into Georgia and back again Sunday night. Sheriff Jeff Shaver said Deputies
were checking out a suspicious vehicle parked in front of the former Lindsey’s
store late Sunday night, when the driver attempted to flee. Deputies pursued
the vehicle for several miles, crossing over into Georgia before returning to
Alabama. The chase ended when the driver
of the fleeing vehicle lost control, ran off the roadway and struck a tree.
Dusty Robert Rogers, was charged with numerous traffic violations and other
offenses including assault, attempting to elude and resisting arrest. A passenger
was injured in the accident and transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Rogers also struck and damaged a patrol vehicle during the chase.
