Two men held on murder charges in weekend home invasion

Gadsden police have arrested two suspects in connection with a Sunday murder and home invasion.  Police say that 38 year old William Meadows, was shot in the head at his girlfriend's home Sunday morning at the College Manor Apartments. He died later sunday night at UAB Hospital in Birmingham.  Meadows' girlfriend told police she heard a knock at her apartment door Sunday morning and Meadows went to answer it. She then heard what sounded "like someone getting punched," then a single gunshot.  She saw the two men enter the apartment, search a few rooms then leave the scene. She recognized one of the suspects.  Police arrived at the scene on Piedmont Cutoff around 7:15 a.m. Sunday morning where They found Meadows on the floor of the apartment bleeding from his head. He was transported to Gadsden Regional Medical Center and later transferred to UAB Hospital, where he died from his injury around 10 p.m. Sunday.   Officers gathered information about the suspects from witnesses and located the two men within about an hour of the shooting at a home on Florence Avenue.  19 year old Tyree Young, and Dexter Harris, both of Gadsden were both arrested and are being held without bond in the Etowah County Jail.  The victims mother, Mary Meadows said Monday the two will pay for their crime.    Both men are facing charges of capital murder. 
Gadsden police believe the shooting was a home invasion and robbery that went bad.
