A gift from an anonymous donor will provide funds for the Anniston police departments youth outreach programs.  The Community Foundation of Northeast Alabama, announced the gift at a City Council meeting Monday. the donor asked that his or her identity and the amount of the donation be kept private.  Anniston police have operated youth outreach programs for the last two years. Officers spend time coaching basketball and football teams, and with youth in the Junior Police Academy, a program that gives teenagers who have an interest in a career in law enforcement a chance to see what that life might be like.  The Community Foundation will handle the accounting for the fund, which will be used for all the department’s outreach programs. It will pay for things like sports uniforms, trophies and after-game celebrations, among other needs, as the department requests them.
