Gadsden man convicted in Talladega County

A 53 year old Gadsden man is facing life in prison after being convicted of enticing a child for immoral purposes in Talladega County.  A Talladega County jury of eight women and four men deliberated less than 10 minutes before finding Gregory Allen Looney  guilty.  In July 2013, Looney was serving time in the work camp in Childersburg after being convicted of forgery. He was standing in line at Jack’s in Sylacauga after cutting the grass in a nearby cemetery when he propositioned a 13-year-old boy who was waiting in line in front him. According to the victim, Looney told him he was cute, grabbed his buttocks and suggested they meet later in the cemetery.  Looney did not put on a defense at trial.
He will be formally sentenced in May by Circuit Judge Bo Hollingsworth.
