Unemployment rate rises in March



According to the Alabama Department of Labor, Alabama’s labor force is growing substantially but that doesn’t mean that the unemployment rate is looking better. Officials say that Alabama’s March unemployment rate is 6.7 percent. And that’s above February’s rate of 6.4 percent and March 2013’s rate of 6.6 percent. Although, research shows that the unemployment rate is up the Alabama labor force grew by more than 14,000 workers and the number of working Alabamians increased by 7,000. Cherokee County is included in the counties with the lowest unemployment rates at 5.9%
