Talladega county drug arrests

Zachary Jerrell Cheeks
Rebekah Rae Stober
Two Talladega residents have been arrested on felony drug charges in two unrelated cases.  23 year old Zachary Jerrell Cheeks, is being held on a $40,000 bond set by District Judge Jeb Fannin after being charged with possession of a controlled substance and felony possession of marijuana.  Cheeks was pulled over by Talladega Police Monday for driving with a suspended license. After getting consent to search his vehicle, investigators found a small quantity of marijuana and three hydrocodone pills.
Police say the marijuana charge amounted to a felony because Cheeks has been convicted of misdemeanor possession on two previous occasions.  31 year old Rebekah Rae Stober, was charged with felony possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor possession of marij   Police were initially responding to a fire call on South Court Street in Talladega, where Stober lives.  The fire burned up a quilt, bed sheet and carpet in one room, and was consistent with a methamphetamine cooking session gone wrong. Police say The person actually running the meth lab may have fled the scene.  When investigators arrived, they found various pipes, syringes and other pieces of drug paraphernalia, and she was charged with those. The case remains under investigation.
